Domestic workers in private households

To apply for domestic workers visa the applicant must show that he/she has been employed as a domestic worker one year or more immediately before the application for entry clearance under the same roof as his/her employer or in a household used by his employer on a regular basis, and provide evidence that there is a connection between the employee and the employer.

Visa Period

A visa can be granted for maximum period not more than 12 months. Provided that an employee remain in continuous employment for the duration of the visa as a domestic worker in a private household can be granted a further 12 months.

Requirements

  • You must intend to travel to the United Kingdom in the company of your employer, employer's spouse or civil partner or his employer's minor child;
  • You must intend to work full time as a domestic worker under the same roof as the employer or in a household that the employer uses for himself on a regular basis and where there is evidence that there is a connection between employer and employee.
  • You must not intend to take employment except within the terms of your employment
  • You must be able to maintain and accommodate yourself adequately without recourse to public funds
