Ancestry Visa

A person with a UK ancestor can apply for an ancestry visa if the person has proof that his/her grandparents was born in the United Kingdom and Islands and that any such grandparent is the person’s blood grandparent or grandparent or by reason of an adoption recognised by the laws of the United Kingdom relating to adoption.

Visa Period

A person with ancestry visa may be given a visa up to 5 years to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Requirements

  • You must be a commonwealth citizen
  • You must be aged 17 years or over
  • You must be able to work and intends to take or seek employment in the United Kingdom
  • You must be able to maintain and accommodate himself and any dependants adequately without recourse to public funds

Additional information

A person who has spent a continuous period of 5 years in the United Kingdom in this capacity can apply for indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom
